V Í Z Ö N T Ő

Károly Cserepes was a member of the Vízöntő folk group from 1976 to 1991, for about 15 years. The group was founded by Ferenc Kiss from Kolinda. Members of the ensemble: Ferenc Kiss, Károly Cserepes, János Hasur and Győző Zsákay, later replaced by Mihály Huszár. Vízöntő gave concerts in the first place, and accompanied dance ensembles (János Bihari Dance Ensemble, Vasas Dance Ensemble).
In the Vízöntő group Cserepes played folk wind instruments (pipes, zurna, pastoral instruments) and percussion instruments. The repertoire of the band first consisted of traditional folk music, and later it more and more included individual compositions, in whose preparation Cserepes also played an important role. His most characteristic compositions of this time are on the record of Vízöntő entitled Deep Water (Munich Records, the Netherlands, 1985), for example Gyerekjáték [Child’s Play], Szerelmi induló [Love March] and Mozgó [Mobil].
